1997 Fairline Squadron 55
The Fairline Squadron 55 is a timeless, well-built, and robust motor yacht, constructed between 1996 and 2004.
The spacious flybridge offers ample space to relax, entertain, and sunbathe. It features a built-in grill in the table and a large bimini. There are three cabins under the foredeck with two bathrooms, and there is an additional fourth cabin, the so-called crew cabin, located under the bench in the cockpit. This cabin is also equipped with a toilet and sink (currently not in use). Recently, this space has been used for storage. The master cabin has a large 1.70-meter bed and an ensuite bathroom. One guest cabin has a large 1.80-meter bed with an ensuite bathroom. The second guest cabin has two separate beds, with the ensuite bathroom accessible from the hallway.
- The kitchen is located in the middle of the ship, with an adjoining pantry described by the current owner as ‘super convenient and practical.’
- The kitchen is equipped with various amenities, such as a washing machine, dishwasher, combi oven/microwave, four-burner electric stove, and exhaust fan.
- The ship has two refrigerators, a cooler on the flybridge, and a wine cooler in the salon.
- The kitchen floor was renewed in 2021, as well as the floor by the flybridge stairs and the stairs themselves.
- The water system is filtered, and the tanks are clean, so the water from the tap is drinkable.
- The boiler is a 50-liter Quick boiler, also heated by the engine.
The ship is equipped with four air conditioning units that both cool and heat. The swim platform features a gangway that also serves as a crane for the dinghy. The gangway is often used as a bar. The dinghy is an AB rib with a 15 hp Yamaha from 2016, which is also included in the sale of the boat.
- The 1997 model is powered by 2 Volvo Penta TAMD-122 engines with 615 hp.
These engines are maintenance-friendly and have been serviced every two years over the years. - The current owner chose these engines 14 years ago because they are less complex than the D12 of the later versions. Service costs for the D12 are also higher.
- The gearbox oil and filter were changed in 2022.
- In 2022, all diesel injectors were overhauled to ensure optimal combustion.
- The ship sails smoothly at 2000 rpm, reaching approximately 23-25 knots, depending on the conditions.
- The old HFL generator was replaced in 2019 with a new Mastervolt 1500 rpm generator with 8 kW power.
This also has a quiet water exhaust. - When the generator was replaced, the exhaust hoses in the engine room were also replaced.
- There is a Victron inverter/charger on board with 3000 watts, providing 220V throughout the ship without needing to start the generator.
- In 2023, all anodes were renewed during a major service.
The boat has undergone yearly technical maintenance and every other year lifting and underwater maintenance during the current owner’s tenure. - All windows were re-sealed in 2020.
- In 2023, the entire edge around the ship under the aluminum strip was re-sealed.
- The ship was treated with an underwater seal in 2023, with 7 layers of Primacon and three layers of antifouling.
- The starter battery pack is from 2023, and the living battery pack is from 2024.
- The boat comes with a summer tent, a winter tent, and summer and winter Polyform fenders.
A nice detail is that the original Fairline glasses and cutlery set are still on board.
The reason for selling is that the current owner is looking for a slightly smaller boat and a different sailing area.
Overall, a lovely but primarily well-maintained ship seeking a new owner to enjoy it as much as the current one has.
